Many prospective clients come to us with questions about HOA approval. Particularly in central Oregon, HOA oversight is quite common. McKenzie Outdoor Living is familiar with and happy to assist with the HOA process.
Each HOA, architectural review board, and historical review board has a set of rules and guidelines. This allows the homeowner and the contractor to gather all necessary information, account for any height, light, or architectural considerations in the design, and submit a clean package for review and approval.
McKenzie Outdoor Living has been approved for construction with every HOA customer. Our HOA package gives the overseeing body all the information they need to approve the homeowner for installation.
Our HOA package includes:
- One set of shop drawings or engineering drawings
- One rendering
- One meeting with the HOA (in-person, Zoom, or phone)
- If needed, we can provide product specs and other documentation upon request
Where do I start?
Our best advice is to contact your HOA directly.
- Tell them you’d like to install a StruXure pergola. We might already be approved!
- Request documentation with all guidelines, so you know in advance about any height requirements, lighting restrictions, or other details.
- Ask about the submission process.
What is a rendering?
A rendering is essentially an edited photo. We take a photo of your outdoor living space as it currently exists. Then we send it off to be turned into the “after” photo. We give our rendering folks the specs for your pergola build and they add it in. They can add screens, furniture, whatever. They’ll also remove details we don’t want in the final photo. Below is an example.
You can see how the rendering gives a visual representation of the final product. It isn’t designed to be 100% perfection, but it gives the homeowner and the HOA a great idea of the finished project.
The HOA approval process might seem daunting, but it really isn’t. Prepare yourself with the right information and let us help!
